Riverside Park is located just north of downtown Grand Rapids, and features:
- Paved bike and walking trail, part of the White Pine Trail State Park, a 92-mile trail which runs from Grand Rapids to Cadillac.
- Two 9-hole Disc golf courses
- Seven ball diamonds
- Two soccer fields
- Great viewing of regattas, especially from the Best Beer Garden in Rowing!
The Best Beer Garden in Rowing is back!
This year our beer garden will include amazing craft beers from our friends at Creston Brewery, Gravel Bottom Craft Brewery, Founders Brewing Company, City Built Brewing, and more! In fact, since Grand Rapids is Beer City USA, after all, several of our brewery partners will be brewing beers specifically for 2019 Masters Nationals. Make sure to come to the regatta thirsty! (And stay well hydrated too, of course)
Food at the Regatta
We'll have several food trucks available at the park for all race days. Most have vegan and often gluten-free options. In addition, starting at 5 pm on Friday, a few more food trucks will show up near the Park's Boat Launch #2 entrance (by the shuttle stop) for Food Truck Fridays.
Also at the regatta, Jimmy Johns will be setting up a delivery tent. Here's some info from them:
Feed your hungry team with Jimmy John’s! They have a variety of catering options – Mini Jimmys®, Party Platters, Box Lunches and tasty sides. Whether you’re ordering in advance or need it last-minute, Jimmy John's will make it happen!
Jimmy John’s makes Freaky Fast® sandwiches using the freshest ingredients. They bake bread fresh all day, so it's always served less than 4 hours out of the oven. They use all-natural meats, and slice them to perfection daily. Veggies are locally purchased, delivered fresh every morning, and hand-sliced daily. They spend 6 hours prepping every day to make a sandwich in just 30 seconds!
Get Jimmy John’s delivered to the US Master Rowing Regatta by visiting the Jimmy John’s delivery tent. Order online at JimmyJohns.com, or call the store at 616-365-9300.
Riverside Park is located about 2 miles north of downtown Grand Rapids along Monroe Avenue. For parking during the regatta, use the remote lot and free regatta shuttle. However, athletes running late can be dropped off at the regatta via the Boat Launch #2 (Guild St.) entrance. You can also park at Riverside Park for practice in the evenings, from one hour after racing concludes for the day until 7 pm. Otherwise, park at the remote lot and use the free regatta shuttle.
To get to the drop-off entrance, set your GPS to 2400 Monroe Avenue NE, Grand Rapids MI 49505. From downtown head north on Monroe Avenue or US-131.
Via Monroe Avenue, there is a slight jog as you turn east from the river where you need to turn left at a signal (Ottawa Ave.) to stay on Monroe Avenue. This is the only jog in the route. Continue north on Monroe past the Ann Street light. Via US-131 north, take Exit 88 to Ann Street. The exit ramp is a tight curve so keep it nice and slow. Turn left to cross the river, and left on Monroe.
Drive past the trailer/cartop/vendor entrance for the regatta (Boat Launch #1, Knapp St.) to the next entrance on the left, Guild Street (Boat Launch #2). The drop off circle is immediately to the left upon entering the park. Please be as quick as possible as this is also used by the free parking shuttles. Call your teammates in advance to meet you and help you unload!
