For (non-cartopping) athletes and spectators, parking at the park is extremely limited. Follow the directions below to parking and free "City Shuttle". We strongly suggest carpooling. Please, no parking in the adjacent neighborhood!
There is a limited amount of accessible parking (must have a hanger tag or accessible plate) available in the park. Go to Boat Launch #2 entrance (Monroe & Guild St., 2400 Monroe Ave NW) and enter the park there for accessible parking.
The "City Shuttle" is free and connects Green Orchard Shopping Center, Embassy Suites hotel and Riverside Park (Boat Launch #2 entrance). It runs every half-hour on the following days. The shuttle starts running from the main parking area at Green Orchard Shopping Center.
- Wednesday, Aug. 14th, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Thursday, Aug. 15, 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Friday, August 16, 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Saturday, August 17, 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Sunday, August 18, 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Free parking is available at the Green Orchard Shopping Center located just north of Grand Rapids. Set your GPS to 740 Center Drive NW, Grand Rapids MI 49534 for easy directions.
Please note that westbound I-196 is completely closed in downtown Grand Rapids due to bridge repair.
To get to this parking area from downtown Grand Rapids, drive north on US-131 to I-96 West toward Muskegon (Exit 89). Stay left and take the exit for North 37 to Alpine Ave and Newaygo. Turn right after exiting onto Alpine Avenue, then right at the first light onto Center Drive (Taco Bell is on the corner). Drive east ~1/3 mile and look for regatta parking signs. Please leave ample space for customers to park when visiting for individual businesses…. and feel free to patronize these fine establishments! The free regatta shuttle stop is located to the right, behind Chuck E. Cheese. Look for "City Shuttle Stop" signs.
This free City Shuttle will also stop at the Embassy Suites hotel just north of Downtown Grand Rapids.
If you’d like to enjoy downtown Grand Rapids you can take the City Shuttle to the Embassy Suites and transfer to the free DASH (pink bus) the Downtown Area SHuttle. The DASH runs every 15 minutes from 6:30 AM - 1 AM during the week,10 AM - 1 AM on Saturdays, and 10 AM - 8 PM on Sundays. Just look for the sign with the DASH logo on Monroe Avenue.
For those trailering or cartopping shells, park at the regatta in designated spaces.
Shell trailers and vendors should enter through the South (Boat Launch #1) entrance near Knapp Street and follow signs to the shell laydown areas. You will receive a parking pass from an attendant when you enter at this entrance. Display the pass on your dashboard for the entire regatta! Vehicles will only be able to enter the shell area from the south (near Boat Launch #1) and exit to the north (near Boat Launch #2).
Cartops should enter the park at the next Boat Launch #2 (Monroe & Guild). Ask a volunteer for a parking pass and park to either side of the drive or in the park immediately inside the park, to the right. Walk shells to the south across the driveway and set them down. Additional parking is available in the remote shuttle lot (see above). There are several golf cart shuttles that will run throughout the park and can give you a lift as needed.
Volunteers can park near the starting line via the Boat Launch #2 entrance, with overflow parking at the north end of Riverside Park near the Ball Fields or Boat Launch #3. Flag down a golf cart shuttle to get to volunteer check-in.
Athletes and spectators, please use the remote parking areas and free Shuttle buses. Please do not park in the neighborhood!
You must have a parking pass to park in Riverside Park during the regatta. Vehicles without passes may be towed! We recognize that vehicles may need to access the park to drop off equipment, food, etc. The best way to do this is to enter the park at Boat Launch #2 and drop off items at the traffic circle near the river, then move your vehicle out of the park. You will not receive a parking pass if you don't have a cartop shell or a boat trailer. Call your teammates ahead of time to help you with your stuff!
